BirdLife International is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to support its scientific work on migratory birds, with a focus on mitigating the impacts of energy infrastructure on birds.

Role Description

The successful applicant will be involved in developing avian sensitivity mapping tools, which use geographic information system (GIS) approaches to identify areas where conflict between birds and energy infrastructure is likely. They will also research and review literature on the impacts of energy development, and other issues relating to migratory birds and their flyways, for inclusion within reports and guidance material. As well as liaising closely with a diverse array of stakeholders and collaborators, by email and in person, they will also organise workshops, meetings and overseas trips. While the principal focus of the work will be to support renewable energy expansion by promoting of best-practice spatial planning and authoritative science, the applicant will also have the opportunity to contribute to BirdLife’s broader science work on migratory species and flyways.
