Jesus Ditch biodiversity enhancement consultation
30th September 2021
Cambridge City Council have been allocated S106 developer contributions to improve the biodiversity of Jesus Ditch, in the southeast corner of Jesus Green.
They propose to replace about 80 metres of the concrete ditch bank with a more natural boundary, lowering the bank to create suitable conditions for a more diverse wetland flora to flourish.
They also propose to plant a wildflower meadow nearby and install a raised deck with viewing platform over the new wetland area and out to the open water of the ditch, with information boards to guide visitors and support educational visits.
The ditch supports a variety of wildlife including water voles, pike, water fowl and bats.
The public can comment on the proposals via the link below, and the consultation is open until 24th October.
