Just wanted to say a warm welcome to people who have just joined the Society and welcome back to those who've been around! Hope all of you have had a wonderful summer and are settling in well here in Cambridge.
My name is Rebecca and I'm the president of CUMCS, I'm really looking forward to meeting you all over the upcoming year at some of our events.

We've got loads of exciting things coming up this term, starting with our Fresher's Squash next Thursday  (17 October) 4-6pm - please note that we have changed our venue to the Pembroke Junior Parlour instead of the Nihon Room. I've attached a map here, tracing the route you take from the porter's lodge in to the JP. Let me know if you need information for step-free access. Come along to chat to our committee members and other society members about things marine-related or anything else really, as well as to discuss any new ideas we can implement over the year. If you need some convincing to turn up, there will be biscuits, snacks and drinks!

We also have a River Cleanup taking place in two weeks time, on Sunday the 27th of October starting from 10am at Midsummer Common. This will be a fundraising event for Surfers Against Sewage as part of their Autumn Beach Clean event, so there will be an incentive to pick up as much trash as possible! More details on this to follow.

In addition to these, we have a couple talks coming up along with other events over the year! To see what else is in store, take a look at our termcard that will be posted on our Facebook page at facebook.com/CamUniMCS . While you’re there, might as well give our page a like too!

That’s all from me, have a great weekend and see you at our Fresher’s Squash next week.
