Anti-Black Friday Event

Join the David Attenborough Building Sustainability Team in saying no to Black Friday consumerism on Friday, 29th November! Donate any unwanted, good quality, clothes, gifts and other items at Reception between Monday 25th and Friday 29th November. Find the collection in the Common Room and take home any items that you fancy for yourself or gifts, available from 29th November until the Winter Crafts Fair on Wednesday, 11 December. (All items are left and provided in good faith that they're in working order and safe for home use).

UK online shoppers spent £1.49bn on Black Friday in 2018 (an increase on the £1.39bn spent online in 2017), with in-store spending dropping by 7%. With huge negative impacts on independent retailers and our pockets, alternatives to Black Friday hysteria include swapping items and regifting or - when shopping - trying to buy locally-produced items, and having a look beyond chain stores.

The DAB sustainability team are also collecting views on waste management in the building- you can leave comments and suggestions on the sheets in the common room if you are in the building, or email them to news@cambridgeconservationforum and we will pass them on for you.
