Cambridge City Council

Cambridge Sustainable City is Cambridge City Council’s programme of working with partners and the community of Cambridge to improve the environment and promote more sustainable lifestyles. Call in for advice, contacts or details about the Sustainable City programme to the Cambridge Environment Centre, which is based at the Guildhall in the Market Square and open to the public Tuesday to Friday 10am to 5pm, offering free environmental information, a newsletter and monthly exhibitions on environmental issues. There is even a compost bin at cost price or a free cotton shopping bag so you can avoid all those plastic bags plus other green offers. At present the offer is a small seed pack so you can grow your own herbs or wild flowers. Sustainable City also encourages networking to support wildlife through its Biodiversity Group and Wildlife Gardening Group.
