Arcus Great Apes Program

The goal of the Arcus Great Apes Program is to ensure the respect and survival of the great apes and their natural habitat. The Program supports conservation and policy advocacy efforts that promote the survival of the great apes in the wild and in sanctuaries that offer safety and freedom from invasive research and other forms of exploitation. Support from this Program is limited to activities that specifically impact gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos and gibbons.

The Arcus Foundation is a leading global philanthropic funder advancing pressing social justice and conservation issues. Specifically, Arcus works to advance lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality as well as to conserve and protect the great apes. Arcus is a thought and resource leader, driving high-level thinking and pioneering ideas in both mission areas, bringing an open and inclusive approach to its work with peer organizations, partners and grantees. The Foundation has offices in Kalamazoo, MI, New York City and Cambridge, UK. The Great Apes Programme is based in Cambridge
