Warden - Cambridge Past, Present and Future
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week on a shift rota
Location: Based at Wandlebury Country Park but working across other CambridgePPF properties.
Salary: £16,300-£20,500 (depending on skills and experience)
Cambridge Past, Present & Future owns and cares for important countryside sites and historic buildings in and around Cambridge, serving over 100,000 visitors a year (Reg. Charity No. 204121).
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Warden to join our Estates Team to help deliver our visitor, wildlife and heritage management work.
This is a rewarding, varied and hands-on role that involves working the land and property and dealing face-face with the public.
You will be part of a small team of full-time, part-time and seasonal Wardens who have responsibility for supporting the visitor, wildlife and heritage management of Wandlebury Country Park, Coton Countryside Reserve and other sites owned by the charity.
You will be expected to undertake a variety of tasks, including habitat management, infrastructure maintenance, using machinery and visitor engagement.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The successful candidate will;
- have a good basic knowledge of estate management techniques and good communication skills
- Ideally have been trained or have experience in the use of tractors, trailers, brushcutter, chainsaw, pesticide application and first aid
- preferably have experience of supervising volunteers, livestock management and ecological monitoring
The job presents the opportunity to work on some of Cambridge’s most important countryside and heritage sites, and develop valuable skills in the management of nature, heritage and visitors.
Our Warden Team aims to operate early morning to dusk 365 days per year. To achieve this, the Warden Team operates on a shift rota which changes through the year with day-length. The post-holder will work alternate weekends.
