We are looking for an experienced and confident person to join our Ecosystem Assessment and Policy Support (EAPS) Programme. The candidate should be familiar with indicators and global biodiversity policy processes, and possess strong technical and networking skills. EAPS works primarily to synthesise and translate the best science to decision makers through information and tools which demonstrate the links between biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being and livelihoods.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and strategically develop the Biodiversity Indicators Partnership Secretariat. The Biodiversity Indicators Partnership is an influential global network that delivers critical information to global policy processes. You will be sensitive to the various needs of an extensive network of people and organisations, and be able to develop strong relationships. You will understand global policy processes and identify key opportunities for the partnership to flourish. Your work will raise the profile of the Centre to put knowledge at the heart of decision making for global and local stakeholders.
As Senior Programme Officer, you will be an ambassador for the Centre at relevant meetings, both in the UK and internationally. You will coordinate the delivery of high quality outputs and take responsibility for following Centre quality and approval processes. You will directly manage at least two Programme Officers and matrix manage project teams across the Centre.
You will hold a degree in biological sciences, geography, ecology, environmental sciences, economics or social sciences. You will have technical experience working with data and indicators. You will also be a persuasive communicator, used to working at the science-policy interface. As an outstanding networker, you will coordinate networks and consortia with extensive internal and external partners. You will have strong project management skills and a track record of delivering a portfolio of projects. Experience of developing projects and initiatives by catalysing institutional strengths and accounting for external challenges and opportunities is essential.
