Falklands Conservation is a UK Registered Charity governed by Trustees. The main operations of the charity are based in the Falkland Islands. The charity works on behalf of our members and stakeholders with the local and international community to conserve the Falkland’s natural environment, through community outreach, practical conservation research and delivery. In order to deliver our organisational business needs most effectively in the UK. We are looking for a bright spark to run our small office based in Sandy, Bedfordshire dealing with all UK based administration/financial activities to support the work carried out in the Falkland Islands. You will be a self-starter and be able to work to deadlines. You would integrate and work closely with the management team based in the Falkland Islands, providing the central support needed to ensure the UK operations runs smoothly

Your duties may include but are not limited to:

·       Providing comprehensive administrative and financial support on all UK matters 

·       Update financial software programs and carry out bank reconciliations on all UK accounts

·       Manage telephone, Email and face to face enquiries

·       Build and maintain effective relationships with Trustees, sponsors and key stakeholders

·       Manage the day to day co-ordination of the UK office, liaising with the Falkland Islands and other key personnel where required

·       Managing the global membership database

·       Managing the UK sales of Falklands Conservation merchandise including web shop sales and stocktakes

·       Organising and taking minutes at trustees meetings

·       Managing the mailing of all our publications including correspondence by letter and mailshots 

·       Managing volunteers

Essential Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 5 General Certificates of Secondary Education in grade C or above, including English and Maths. 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of working in an administrative or customer services role.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Able to use Microsoft office software packages and comfortable with computer systems, particularly MSExcel, MSWord, and MSOutlook.
  • A strong customer service approach ie. a good telephone manner, polite and helpful with a general willingness to support when dealing with staff, volunteers and members of the public.
  • Punctuality and a smart and tidy appearance.
  • An interest in conservation and the natural environment.
  • Full driving licence and own car

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of running a small sales operation.
  • Experience of taking minutes at meetings and preparing information for publication and/or distribution.
  • Able to use MSPublisher and MSAccess programs.
  • A working knowledge of managing finances and using accounting software.
  • Understanding of the GDPR – Data Protection Legislation

 

Salary starting at

£19,000 to £22,000 per annum (pro rata) plus Pension Scheme contributions

 

Hours & contract information

This is a part-time role at 20 or 25 hours per week (to be determined). We were would prefer that these hours would be spread over 5 days per week, with a preference for the applicant to work afternoon hours where possible so as to align with the working day in the Falkland Islands time zone.
