Ecosystem Analyst, JNCC, Peterborough
The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) is the statutory adviser to Government on UK and international nature conservation. One of JNCC’s key roles is provision of biodiversity related evidence. JNCC is looking to recruit an analyst to work within our Ecosystems Analysis team in Peterborough.
JNCC’s advice is based on high-quality evidence and analysis. We have a core interest in biodiversity and the natural environment - we monitor biodiversity and habitats, evaluate options and provide advice to help JNCC’s stakeholders meet the challenges of managing natural capital whilst facing strong constraints on the resources available to provide the evidence needed. The post holder will join the analytical group and work across an interesting range of projects. We currently have a strong focus on land use and land use change both in the UK and internationally. Recent work within the analytical group has focussed on land use in Chile and the British Virgin Islands.
The position advertised would require someone with strong data management and manipulation skills and experience of using data management and translation tools such as database tools, GIS, FME, R, Python. It is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical background, an enthusiasm for analysis and an interest in biodiversity and ecosystem services. The post will manage and develop the evidence that underpins the biodiversity and nature conservation advice of the JNCC. JNCC has a vision “To be a world-leading provider of innovative solutions, placing nature at the heart of sustainable wealth and wellbeing.”
The post is a three-year fixed term appointment.
