Pennywort removal from the Cam, Horningsea
19 Oct 2019 - 10:30
Floating Pennywort is growing again in the lower Cam. Our volunteers efforts in late June severely knocked it back and it hasn't regrown into some places but despite actions by the Cam Conservators since then and some limited volunteer work, it's growing again and we need another working party to remove it.
Cam Valley Forum would be very pleased to hear from you if you would like to join in. As before the Cambridge Canoe Club will supply the front line action supported by bank rakers.
We will meet at Horningsea, Saturday 19 October, at 1030 and finish about 1300 followed by a picnic and work from Baits Bite Lock to Clayhithe. There is ample space for car parking next to the to the river adjacent to a suitable launching site.
You are very welcome to bring your own Canadian canoe, otherwise you can help in Pennywort pulling from the bank to take out larger mats and from where canoes cannot reach.
If you would like to take up this worthy cause, could you please respond to Mike Foley, email@example.com.
